Turkey’s Economy and Monetary Policy by Abdullah Yavaş [Cultural Conversations]

Another great Cultural Conversation event was held on March 13, 2010. The speaker was Professor Abdullah Yavaş of UW-Madison who is also a consultant for the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.

Abdullay Yavaş presented a slide show about Turkey’s Economy and Monetary Policy. He also mentioned various topics including the history of Turkey’s Economy, Turkey’s Economy current situation, global economy crisis, etc.

Turkey Parliament Award of Honor to be Given to Kemal Karpat

We are very pleased to announce that Turkey Parliament’s Administration Council (TBMM) has agreed on giving this year’s Parliament Award of Honor to historian Kemal Karpat.
The award was given for the first time on July 13, 2005 to world-famous brain surgeon Professor Gazi Yaşargil, then it was granted to Professor İhsan Doğramacı on May 30, 2007 and to Professor Halil İnalcık on July 30, 2008. The Parliament Award of Honor is bestowed on those who made considerable contributions to Turkey’s publicity and who have international successes.

The first Cultural Conversation was held at TACC-Madison. The speaker was distinguished Kemal Karpat who is a Turkish historian and professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
