Dear Ms. Ates,

Thank you for your interest in the activities of TACC-Madison including our Turkish classes. TACC-Madison have been organizing Turkish classes for K-8 kids between September and May since 2008. Our classes are held for 3 hours a week on Sunday mornings. On the other hand, Turkish classes are set up for kids who already have basic Turkish speaking skills. Therefore, these classes may not be ideal for students without any Turkish knowledge in their background. Having said that, we have had students attending our classes with no Turkish language background at all. For these students, being exposed to Turkish culture and language is definitely a plus, but the expectations have to be kept reasonable. In any event, we may offer Turkish classes solely for kids without any prior Turkish knowledge or for kids older than 8th grade in the future. In order to stay informed of such initiatives, we encourage you to join our emailing list where we announce our regular programs including Turkish classes as well as new programs to the members of the emailing list. Please let us know if you wish to join our emailing list by simply sending an email to info@taccmadison.org. Please also feel free to send an email to us at info@taccmadison.org if you have any further questions or comments.

Thanks again for your interest in Turkish classes.
Sincerely,

[...] Tuncer Edil, a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison, made a introductory speech. He spoke about old bayram celebrations in Turkey and in Madison. We remembered our childhood bayram celebrations. He said children used to visit elder people in bayrams and elder people used to give money to them as a gift. Then all children were going to a city fair for entertainment. [...]
